Lake Brownwood State Park

We met my brother and his wife at Lake Brownwood this past weekend.  We had lunch Friday at Underwoods, which was as good as I remembered.  We went on a hike, played games, watched some movies, and ate lots of good food.  We were in site #79, which was ok.  No trees over the camper.  It was in Council Bluff area.

New State! Oklahoma! Chickasaw National Recreation Area, The Point camping area

Our traditional Easter camping this year was in Oklahoma.  This allowed the Burton family from Kansas City to attend!  We had wonderful weather until the last night and morning.  No one knocked on our door asking to share our dry camper (which sleeps 10!)

I decided to also start taking pictures of the food that we have since it is usually extraordinary!  I did not start this until lunch Saturday, however, so you will not see the hickory smoked T-bone steak, red potatoes, and green beans with ciabatta bread from Friday night or the jalapeno bacon, fresh scrambled eggs (thanks Dan and Jen!!), cheese tacos from Saturday breakfast.  Also, the group meal was so delicious, I forgot to get all of the dishes.  Ah well!

New Place! Galveston Island State Park

Last weekend, we drove 4 hours to Galveston and stayed at the state park there.  We were on the Bay side, site #66, which really meant the marsh.  There was water, but not really pleasant.  We were joined by the Nelsons from WI, on their way back from a month in Alabama.  Some in our party got chiggers, and the mosquitos were swarming.  We were out and about a lot, so we really only got to sit outside for one night, but that was ok due to the bugs.  The dog figured out how to open our bedroom door.  We learned, when we did make it to the public beach area, that the dog does not like the ocean at all!!  There were a few jellyfish washed up on shore.

Oh, and note to self, check the camper lights before you leave.  Lots of games were played, including Authors, which I had not played in years.

Second trip, but same park, different site

We actually liked this one better.  It was site #240, and was down towards the end of all of the campsites.  It was quiet.  Still by the water, but not a direct view out of the dining room as before.  It was close to a nice little trail.  Despite the storm, we had a great time.  We were joined by the sister unit and family.  There were ducks, the dog, and very friendly squirrel.  We also took the oldest and toured the Longhorn Caverns on Saturday.  It was quite the sight, as it was her first cavern.
